I'm having auditions for my production of ACE 12th Night, an Alternative Casting Experiment with William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, or What you Will, being performed this December and throughout 2011.

ACE 12th Night seeks Actors for an Alternative Casting Experiment performing in December 2010 and throughout 2011.

ACE seeks up to 36 actors to play roles in William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, or What You Will. There will be stipends this Fall, payments in Winter, and pending funding, salaries in 2011.

Auditions are Friday June 25th, 6 til 8 pm AND Sunday June 27th, 2 til 4 pm. Both at the Iowa City Public Library, Meeting Room A, 123 Linn St, Iowa City, IA 52240.

Ages 18 to 180 are sought. ACTORS of any Race, Color, Creed, Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Religion, National Origin, Dis/Ability, Familial Status, Body Type, Aesthetics & More are Desired.

You need bring Nothing. We have 12th Night scenes for you. HOWEVER, if you have a short monologue ready, we will hear it. DRESS FOR A LITTLE ROLLING AROUND! There will be some movement at the Audition: A wee bit of running, jumping and falling.

ACE 12th Night has performances scheduled for December 10, 11, and 12th in the evening. You can be cast whether or not you are available for all performances. This will be described at the Auditions.

Rehearsals will be scheduled with actors, one on one, two by two, etc., from July 12th til September 12th, 1 to 3 hours a week. From September 12th til October 10th there will be larger cast rehearsals, 3 or 4 hours a week with some run-throughs the week prior to October 10th.

IF you're available to perform during the day, you will be invited to join ACE 12th Night in area schools. If not, simply plan on the December performances. ACE 12th Night is subsequently partnering with Iowa Dance Fest in the schools during 2011. Actors will experiment with Songs and Dances from Shakespeare with K-12 students around Iowa.

Tango dancers performing in the John Colloton Pavilion Atrium

The performing arts component of Project Art was created to offer diversion and stimulation through music, dance, and theater. Project Art schedules over 60 performances each year. Audience size varies ranging from 50 to 200 people.

Each winter, Project Art coordinates performances for the Festival of World Cultures, a month-long program featuring cultures and religions from around the world. In addition, during the summer months, Project Art hosts a performance series called Fridays at the Café, which is sponsored by Volunteer Services. These weekly events are held on the Rooftop Terrace located outside the Patient and Visitor Activities Center on the 8th Floor of Carver Pavilion (weather permitting).

Public is invited to attend performances, classes, workshops,
lectures, and much more at different Iowa City locations.

Participating groups will be doing outreach to the community from April 21 - 25,
with workshops and performances in area schools,
hospitals, and community centers.
Talk to us if you are available to go places during the day.

$25.00 buttons will be sold at many Iowa City/Coralville locations.
The button provides free access to all workshops and performances.
Without the button, workshops will be $5 each and performances $10 each.

Net income pays for cost of Iowa Dance Fest.

ACE has accepted an invitation to collaborate on dance and movement for Catalyst Acting Company's production of Godspell directed by Jeff Shields with choreographers coordinated by Arts a la Carte.

Godspell runs Nov 15 - 19 at Old Brick.

ACE is also producing part of the rehearsal space with Old Brick.

This is ACE's 1st collaboration with Catalyst and a continuation of our 5 year collaboration with AAC.
